One of B&W’s first forays in Mozambique way back in 2002 included all aspects of electrical and instrumentation construction at the Temane Central Processing Facility. Now there’s more!
The existing infrastructure was almost doubled. This included two new substations and a duplication of the existing control room. Also, two new MAN compressors installed to pump gas in the line to Secunda more than 800km away.
In addition, a waste incinerator plant and a water treatment plant were new items in the Temane upgrade.
B&W was responsible for the electrical and instrumentation construction for the entire extension. This was a brown-field installation and interfacing the existing plant with the new was challenging. As usual, we were very precise in carrying out our safety procedures. Being a hard wire system, we planned that the instrumentation installation formed a significant portion of our time on site.
Site establishment commenced in June 2009 and the project was completed in September 2010.
